Electrical & device charging issues

How is the voltage in Eswatini different than in the US?

There are two differences you will encounter when attempting to use electrical or electronic devices in Eswatini. The first is the most obvious: the plugs are shaped differently. This can be overcome with a plug adapter that is readily and affordably available in Eswatini.
The second difference is not obvious but creates a greater obstacle. The voltage of household outlets in Eswatini is 220v, as opposed to US outlets which are typically 110v (except for the plug for your electric stove or dryer).

If you plug a device rated for 110v into a 220v power supply, the device will catch on fire!
Generally, your computer, cellphone, tablet, and other electronic power supply will be rated for 100-240v. You should confirm this before plugging it in using a plug adapter.
++++devices are NOT rated for 220v. We recommend you check and if they are not, either purchase a voltage step-down, or better yet, leave those devices at home.

Do I need a plug adapter?

Comfort for Africa has many plug adapters available for you to borrow while you are visiting Eswatini. If all you need is to plug in your laptop or your mobile phone, you don’t really need to buy an adapter.

If you really want to bring your own, here are some from Amazon that we have tested and which will work well:
